Brick Mortar, Stone and Steel: America's Architecture”

Exhibit dates: November 7 – 15, 2014

Opening reception: Friday, November 7 5-9 pm

Drawings from York and Lancaster Counties including:
The Rewalt House in Wrightsville. During the Civil War, Mrs Rewalt served breakfast to General and his staff in thanks for helping to save the town of Wrightsville from flames while the covered bridge that spanned the Susquehanna was
burning.
Also included are the Pinkerton Stone Arch Bridge spanning the Chickees Creek on the east end of Mount Joy, the Codorus Iron Furnace in Hellam Township and the John Guy Distillery in Marietta.

Seven York County artists exhibit artworks that show the progression of their art from their early childhood to their current professional career. Examples from each artist will include an early example, a piece from their formative years period and a contemporaneous piece.


We often focus on the current work of artists, but how did they get there? This exhibit hopes to provide interesting perspective on an artist's journey.

A graduate of Eastern York High School, We met Mariah Hertz when she exhibited her extraordinary art at the annual Eastern York High School art exhibit.  She has sold her popular robots at our holiday show for several years.

Her art will be on display and we will be announcing the scholarship fund in her name administered through Eastern York Dollars for Scholars program. The dates for that show are August 29- Sept. 6 with an opening reception on August 31 from 1-4.

HEART AND SOUL

January 24th, Fourth Friday, brings the opening reception from 5-9 of “Heart and Soul”.  The exhibit features the new series by Robert Oughton “Monster Romance”, portraying the Universal Studios movie monsters, Frankenstein, King Kong, The Creature, Dracula and Wolfman and the objects of their desire. 

Also on exhibit are antique heart objects from the collection of Mary Beth Sloat and the weavings of Phyllis Koster.  Refreshments will have a decidedly delicious chocolate flavor... show runs from January 24 – February 22.
